Basis Investment Group was founded in 2009 by Tammy K. Jones in partnership with JEMB Realty Corporation. Basis is an affiliate of JEMB Realty Corporation, is a commercial real estate investment manager, primarily focused on debt and structured equity strategies. Basis originates and acquires diversified commercial real estate debt investments across the capital stack of stabilized, transitional, and developmental assets throughout the United States. Basis is a certified Minority and Woman Owned Business.
In the early 2000s, JEMB Realty Corporation recognized an opportunity and, through affiliates, expanded into the energy sector, through Astoria Energy. Astoria Energy I went into service in 2006, providing 550 MW of clean, natural gas-fired energy to the New York City power grid. Astoria Energy II went into service in 2011, doubling the facility’s total output. As an original developer, and the longest-participating partner in Astoria Energy, JEMB Family has been extremely pleased to have been part of the Astoria Energy projects from their inception, through the construction period requiring a high level of logistical organization, and into the operational phase, providing many years of reliable electricity to New York City, its corporate home. JEMB Family sold its interests in the Astoria Energy generating facilities in 2020.
BUSAC Real Estate has been present in the North American Real Estate market for 22 years. As an investor, owner, developer and administrator, the company continues to broaden its expertise since its founding in 1998. BUSAC is active in acquisitions, repositioning of real estate assets, major commercial and infrastructure investments, development projects as well as structured financing of real estate and infrastructure assets in Canada and the United States. From its head office in Montreal, BUSAC provides administrative support and asset management assistance to JEMB Realty Corporation Group relating to properties, projects and divisions.
Helm Equities is a thriving real estate company established in 2008 as an affiliate of JEMB Realty. The corporate focus is on its portfolio of retail and residential assets, investments, and development opportunities. Helm Equities has become well-known for working in sync with community boards, ensuring their development truly enhances the overall neighborhoods in which they serve. Helm Equities has successfully developed residential assets and first-class leased locations for many national retailers. In April 2020, construction of the 118 Orchard luxury apartment complex in New York City was completed. Helm is also working on a 325,000 square foot retail, office and hotel development project in the prestigious Miami Design District, a prime example of the foresight and vision embraced by the firm. Helm Equities plays a very active role in the marketplace and is vigorously expanding its current portfolio of a dozen plus properties.

JEMB Realty owns two Burger King franchises in New Jersey and one in Manhattan. Two of the restaurants have been remodeled to reflect Burger King’s corporate image of today.
Prior to entering the real estate market, Morris Bailey owned up to as many as 52 Burger King franchises in New Jersey.
